Bad Beat Jackpot

Bad Beat Jackpot

The Lodge Poker Club offers Members a “Bad Beat Jackpot”. The prize pool is increased weekly by the Lodge. Every week the Lodge contributes $250 to the bad beat Jackpot. A Bad Beat Jackpot is a prize that is paid when a sufficiently strong hand is shown down and loses to an even stronger hand held by another player. Specific rules apply in all Bad Beat scenarios including:

  1. The Bad Beat Jackpot will only apply to the game of Texas Hold ’Em. “Bad Beat” means a high ranking poker hand that is beat by a higher ranking hand (e.g., four Kings losing to a straight flush).
  2. A minimum of five players must be seated and dealt in at the beginning of the hand in order to qualify for the Bad Beat. A Bad Beat shall only apply to the first natural five community cards dealt. As long as a player has active chips on the table, and is paying club access fees, they will be eligible to receive a portion of the Bad Beat.
  3. To qualify for the Bad Beat Jackpot, a player must have four 10’s or better beaten. If the winning or losing player has made a four-of-a-kind, that player must have a pocket pair to qualify. Both the winning and losing hands must use both of their hole cards.
  4. The hand must go to showdown (played to the end, where all cards have been dealt and players have completed betting and shown their cards to determine the winner) in order for the jackpot to be awarded.
  5. If a hand finishes with three qualifying hands, then two of the three qualifying hands will receive a player’s share of the jackpot. (e.g., four sixes, four sevens and a Nine high straight flush are dealt in the same hand. The Bad Beat hand will be the four sixes. The winning hand will be the four sevens and the Nine high straight flush.)
  6. Players must play their hands independently. Any discussion of the Bad Beat or jackpot amount during the playing of the hand will void any and all Jackpot payouts. If any player, whether directly or indirectly involved in the hand, telegraphs information, instructs another player on how to act or reveals his/her hand to other players, the Bad Beat Jackpot will be voided.
  7. The Lodge Management reserves the right to verify eligibility of all qualifying hands. There will be no recourse if the cards are mucked before surveillance was able to verify the winning and losing hands or the community cards.
  8. In order to collect any of The Lodge Bad Beat Jackpot payout, a valid, non-expired government issued photo ID or passport will be required. Payouts of the Bad Beat Jackpot are as follows:
    • 50% of the Bad Beat Jackpot will be awarded to the Bad Beat hand (losing hand).
    • 30% of the Bad Beat Jackpot will be awarded to the winner of the hand.
    • 20% of the Bad Beat Jackpot will be awarded equally among the seated players at the table who were paying club access fees at the beginning of the hand.
  9. A player who removes his/her chips from the table prior to showdown on a hand where a Bad Beat is won, forfeits his/her right to any prize money.
  10. Winners will be solely responsible for all taxes.
  11. All prizes won are final and no substitution or transfer of prizes is permitted.
  12. In the rare occurrence of a Bad Beat Jackpot being hit on more than one table at the same time, management will use surveillance to determine the actual winner. Then, the jackpot will be distributed on each table according to the percentages set forth in Rule #8 above.
  13. Decisions of The Lodge Management are final.
  14. In the event of a tie, Bad Beat Jackpot hands (either tied losing hands or tied winning hands) at the same table are awarded as per rule #8 and will be shared evenly between all players with the tie losing or tie winning hands.
  15. In the event of multiple qualifying Bad Beat Jackpot hands (losing hands), all losing hands will split the losing share of the Bad Beat Jackpot equally. i.e. (Four Tens, Four Jacks and a King high straight flush) The Four Tens and Four Jacks would receive 50% (25% each) of the Bad Beat hand. The King high straight flush would receive 30% of the Jackpot payout and 20% of the Jackpot will be split evenly among the rest of the qualifying players at the table.

The Bad Beat Jackpot is NOT stored as cash on the premises of The Lodge Poker Club. Payment of the Jackpot will be made by check to the qualifying recipients within 30 days of the event. Any qualified recipient of the Jackpot must be able to present a valid government issued identification in order to receive his/her Jackpot payment. Any violation of these rules could result in the voiding of the Bad Beat Jackpot.
